This was taken at the February 18, 2005 Poeria Rivermen hockey game at Peoria Civic Center (or Carver Arena, as I still call it). My g/f got us tickets for the Christmas before and I decided to propose at the game. After talking to the Rivermen game operations staff, they agreed to let me do it in the penalty box during intermission. Melissa never knew what was going on (she thought we were there for a contest which we had been picked for 'randomly' from the crowd, LOL.
This video was shot from the arena video staff. They were hooked into the radio audio feed, so you won't hear me talking over the PA. Here's what I said:
'...Melissa, I've been wanting to ask you a question for about the past 8 months and I didn't know how or where or when I was going to do this, but when you gave me tickets for tonight's game for Christmas, I knew this was the time and this was the place to do this. You know how special this building is to me, with all my childhood memories that I have from here and you know how special the game of hockey is to both of us and all the joy and excitement it has brought us over the years.
I have to thank the Rivermen for letting me come down here tonight and ask you this question this way...

The past seven years have been some of the best of my life and I can't imagine spending the next seven years, or the years after those, with anybody other than you. Melissa, I love you...
